On October 18th 2023, Palmer Ridge administrators created the first ‘Post-Secondary Palooza.’ This was a day for all students Grades 9-12 to explore the many options after high school and programs the school offered. The administrators brought in Tri-lake locals in numerous career fields, from the Space Force, to an Equine therapist and her pony! Present at the Palooza were also doctors, a chef, lawyer, carpenter ,and more!
The school day was like every other, show up at 7:40, leave at 2:50, but the day was filled with fun, and plans for the future. When the students arrived, depending on their grade they were given a specific schedule. For sophomores specifically, their first 3 hours at school were spent learning more doing educational courses. The students could do Everfi, a school used finance program, learn about College Board, and other educational activities in the morning. Later in the day, the students were given four ‘periods’ to learn more about careers they are interested in.
All while this was happening, Juniors were taking the PSAT, and practicing for the SAT in the spring. If they chose, they could take the short trip over to LPHS to take the ASVAB, a military aptitude test.
