Palmer Ridge High School has started a brand new tradition recognizing one outstanding student every month for their excellent character and overall positive presence around the school.

Sean Ray has been nominated as Palmer Ridge High School’s September Bear of the Month. He is in his sophomore year and has been described by students and staff as being  friendly, respectful,  and hard working. He is a natural leader who creates a welcoming and supporting environment, whether this is in the classroom or as an athlete. Sean is an exemplary student with a great sense of humor and willingness to help. Congratulations Sean for being our first ever Bear of the Month!

Palmer Ridge is honored to announce Ella Blakeley as our October Bear of the Month. As a Freshman, Ella is focused and mature. She actively participates in pep band and is one of the few freshmen to audition into the school’s wind ensemble, a group composed of mostly seniors. She is described as having a zest for life and is someone who is always positive and cheerful. Regardless of the class, she willingly jumps into any activity, even Honors Biology when others may find the lesson “icky.” Congratulations Ella!

Amie Renegar, Dean of Students at PR, has been very pleased with the Bear of the Month tradition, and hopes to continue it for many years to come. A student can be nominated through both student and teacher recommendations via school email and QR codes around the school.

“There are certain characteristics that a student needs to have to be considered for Bear of the Month.” said Renegar. “Whether they are already a hard working student or they are showing improvement with their grades, attendance, and having good character in general are some good qualifications.”

This new tradition is one that many other high schools do, and one that PR adopted to recognize stellar students. Remember to continue to nominate a Bear of the Month each month and give more students a chance to earn this unique award!
