Welcome back to Eat The World, a new Instagram-based series from the Cuisine section of The Bear Truth, bringing you multicultural recipes you can make from home!

We’re headed off to Italy, in search of the easiest Caprese salad recipe. Caprese salad hails from the island of Capri, off the coast of Italy. Alongside the Margherita pizza, its colors reflect those of the Italian flag: red, white, and green. It was first introduced in the 1920s at the Hotel Quisisana as a tribute to its home country and later gained popularity in the 1950s, due to King Farouk. It may just be the easiest recipe we’ve ever featured at BT Cuisine, as it has exactly one step to it. This salad is perfect for summery days, or whenever you want to channel your inner Mediterranean. The cool mozzarella and tomatoes balance the distinct flavor of the basil, resulting in an evenly balanced palate sure to please even the most hard-hearted salad hater.

Recipe: Caprese Salad

Mozzarella slices
Tomatoes
Basil
Olive oil
Lettuce
Lemon juice

  1. Mix all ingredients together and serve
